A Little Ounce of Luck

Between the bricks of the walk way
grows a clover patch.
Perfect heart shaped leaves
cut up into threes.

I pause and wonder
if there is one with a fourth.
Kneeling down beside the patch,
I run my fingers over the supple leaves.

How long would it take
for me to find an ounce of luck
among this lake of green?

I stand up and admire the clover,
filled with curiosity.
